New Accommodation

We are pleased to be able to offer new accommodation, managed through Town Hall Lettings. The properties have been commissioned with the aim of helping local residents to access good quality private sector accommodation let at submarket rents.

The accommodation comprises of a mixture of one, two and three bedroom properties located within the Chesterton and Arbury areas of Cambridge. Please note that these properties are not owned by the Council, a Housing Association or a Registered Provider, but by Cambridge City Housing Company.  This is an innovative new Housing Company, wholly owned by Cambridge City Council, which has been set up to provide high quality intermediate rental homes: that is, homes for those with low priority for social housing but who may be struggling to pay private sector rents in Cambridge.

The company’s properties are managed by Town Hall Lettings and are let on Assured Shorthold Tenancies for one year which will be renewable annually.

An indication of the monthly rent for each different type of property will be as follows in the first year of the tenancy:

Eligibility

We are keen to make sure that tenants will be able to afford the properties. We are also keen to make sure that properties are let to people who may not be able to access higher-cost accommodation. Therefore we are limiting applications to households with the following annual income:

How to apply

We will prioritise applications in line with the Cambridge City Housing Company’s Lettings Policy. Please note that priority will be given to households registered on Home-Link who are residing in Cambridge City, with preference given to those with continuous residence of 12 months or over.

You will not be charged for registering an interest and it will not commit you to anything. Applicants must be in a position to pay the first month’s rent and deposit equal to five weeks’ rent before they move in and the tenancy starts.
